As Thomas Circle Singers looks ahead to the 35th anniversary season, I'd like to reflect on what an exciting year this has been. Throughout this season, TCS has presented truly sublime choral programs to our DC audiences. We also partnered with a wonderful organization, the DC Creative Writing Workshop. Based in DC's Congress Heights neighborhood, east of the Anacostia River, DCCWW unites parents, teachers, and professional writers-in-residence to transform the lives of youth through self-expression. In partnership with DCCWW, we presented concerts in October, December and May that featured readings of works by youth workshop participants. We raised awareness, as well as donated ticket proceeds from each of those concerts to DCCWW to support the important work they do. Our March concert, auction, and fundraiser was also a huge success, thanks to the dedicated TCS volunteers who put it together. The concert, "TCS Goes Pops!," which featured arrangements from the American Songbook accompanied by a jazz trio, was extraordinarily well received.
Our 35th anniversary season will be sure to delight. We plan to present equally enthralling programming, with some special surprises in store for our anniversary season. Be sure to check back soon for more information about our upcoming season. We can't wait to see you in the fall of 2010!
