THE THOMAS CIRCLE SINGERS LAUNCHES ITS 28TH SEASON OF TRANSFORMING THE CITY THROUGH SONG
The Thomas Circle Singers (TCS), under the artistic direction of James Kreger, announces the launch of its 28th season of choral excellence and community service. Hailed by critics and the public alike for its combination of superior artistry and service to the community, TCS enters its 28th year with a commitment to continuing its social mission while presenting exceptional choral performances.

Hailed by the Washington Post as performing with “grace, silvery tone and high impact,” TCS presents an annual concert season that spans musical eras from the Renaissance to the present day. The 2003-2004 concert season includes three concerts and a gala celebration. According to Kreger, “We have another year of spectacular choral music planned, offering something to appeal to the most eclectic of tastes.” The season opens on Sunday, November 2, 2003, with a season preview concert, offering a sampling of music from the three subscription concerts. A perennial favorite, A TCS Christmas, follows on Sunday, December 14, 2003, with the choir joined by orchestra and The Landon School Little Singers to share the spirit of the holidays with Pergolesi Magnificat, a procession for bells and voices, and carols and motets of the Christmas season. The season continues on Saturday, March 13, 2004, with March Madrigal Madness and Musical Mayhem, featuring music of Mechem, Morley, Marenzio, Monteverdi, and PDQ Bach. TCS’s season concludes with Baroque Treasures, a concert with orchestra, offering Bach’s Cantata 172 Erschallet, ihr Lieder, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Lotti’s Crucifixus and selections from Geistliche Chormusik by Schütz. Recognized for its consistent musical excellence and unwavering commitment to the DC community, TCS performances have raised over $120,000 for local non-profit organizations in the last seven years alone. This season TCS continues this tradition by donating all concert ticket proceeds to groups that promote youth leadership development: The Empower Program, Life Pieces To Masterpieces, and Beacon House Community Ministry. TCS was founded in 1976, with the support of Luther Place Memorial Church, as a vehicle to raise funds for charities in Washington. Over the years, TCS, known as “voices that make a difference,” has served the city’s neediest residents. Please see the complete list of beneficiaries, attached. In recognition of the Thomas Circle Singers’ unwavering commitment to the community, Washingtonian Magazine named TCS one of the Washingtonians of the Year in 2000. In addition, WETA-FM honored artistic director James Kreger as a Hometown Hero in 2001.

TCS offers a reduced-price season subscription for $51 ($38 for students and seniors). Individual tickets to concerts are $20, $15 for seniors and students. TCS’s Annual Gala on Saturday, February 28, 2004, is a chance to party on the Circle while benefiting TCS. Star Supporter tickets are $125, and Supporter tickets are $50.
